poetry

The space between

sleep, interrupted
by tweets, whistles and bots
the faint yet disturbing
glow of devices
creeping into my consciousness,

a fantasy brigade in reality intrusion
into my dreams
filtered through the hum
of indistinguishable
machines and devices
like pets forlorn in the night,
bombarded by relationships
and updates.

I power down
and disconnect
into the secret life
of the offline world,
engaging the luxury of discretion—
feeling a sensuality
in exclusivity.

grains of darkness develop
forming figures from shadows,
mirages of ghosts and reflections
waiting for an abduction
a revelation
a rapture of any kind.

longing for comfort
I step off into
the abyss of sleep,
into the comfortable
unknown of dreams
and nightmares
enticing my fears
and fantasies
