of Paris

discovering myself
through the city
in different places and spaces
hidden away on a walk
of wandering and wondering

passersby formulating the
uncertainties of humanity,
coffee and drinks mixing
smiles and conversations,
alleyways and arcades
hosting spirits and surprises

scents and remembrances
capture my attention;
I meet the eyes of
a stranger reflected,
distorted and fleeting
in boutique glass

the stones feel our every step
as ghosts of myself leave
traces in all directions;
I visit places
of nobility and poverty
of glory and shame

pains and laughter
stretched across
these streets
as a ghostly veneer
greeting me every time
I return
