Enable Via Empowerment
Your donation will go directly to a woman in need: to enable her to move out of an abusive or restrictive situation and improve her access to education, paid employment and independence! You will be enabling a life she engages of development, power and growth, simply allowing her to start: to continue on her own and thrive.
Globally, as many as 38% of murders of women are by a male partner.* How many of those women woke up and thought that day would be their last? For victims, forms of domestic violence – physical, emotional, financial, sexual, psychological, etc. – can lead to depression, isolation, post-traumatic stress and other anxiety disorders, sleep difficulties; work, family and career problems; eating disorders, suicide attempts, and a number of physcial and emotional health problems.
One out of every four women who are the victims of domestic violence attempt suicide. All women who are victims of domestic violence are at risk of being murdered by their abusers. Almost all of the perpetrators of domestic violence say that they will stop. But most don’t. The violence usually gets worse.
The women who are victimized by these heinous crimes feel trapped and confused. The abuser not only physically attacks the woman, but also psychologically attacks her. The verbal attacks are meant to control the victim, and to try to strip her of her self-esteem, self-confidence, and self-love. The perpetrator also often wants the woman to believe that she is at fault for the violence and the verbal abuse.**
Those experiences can lead to furuther traumatic recovery needs. Think of her as living in danger – as an endangered person. You are saving a life. You are enabling a future.
Even a little means a lot. Think of the smallest thing you pay for. She needs it. You are appreciated and thanked.
